The circle of magnets around the induction coil on the iPhone is part of the circuitry that allows the device to charge wirelessly using MagSafe technology. MagSafe is the name of an Apple-developed technology that uses a magnet mount and an induction coil to enable fast and convenient device charging.
Magnetic attachment: There is a circular array of magnets around the induction coil to ensure precise and stable placement of the iPhone on the charger. The magnets attract and hold the device in position, which is important for efficient power transfer and to prevent the iPhone from accidentally falling off the charger.
Wireless charging: when the iPhone is placed on the wireless charger, the induction coil in the device creates an electromagnetic field. This field is then transmitted through the coil in the charger and converted back into electricity, which is transferred to the iPhone battery. This allows you to charge your device without having to plug in a cable.
Precise polarity arrangement: The magnet circles are designed to have precisely defined magnetic polarities. This allows a perfect match to be achieved between the magnets on the device and the magnets on the charger, ensuring stability and accuracy when placing the iPhone on the charger.
Reduction of electromagnetic interference: The magnet system is also designed to minimise electromagnetic interference. MagSafe's high operating frequency (often in the range of several megahertz) is well controlled to avoid interference with other electronic devices and ensure efficient charging.
Accuracy of measurements and communication: The circles with magnets also contain an NFC (Near Field Communication) chip, which enables the distance between the iPhone and the charger to be measured accurately. This allows the charging power to be dynamically adjusted according to distance and enables communication between the device and charger to optimise the charging process.
